First Outing

Tuesday we had our first outing with Rowynn. He and I had doctors appointments in the afternoon. It ended up being a full day out and about. We went to my appointment first (my feet are swollen and my calves have been cramping, just making sure all was well. Seems it is just fine, just normal swelling and isn't as bad as what he has seen.)

Then, we needed to get the paperwork in order for is SS card and birth certificate at the hospital since they "forgot" to take care of it on the Friday that I delivered and I was released on Sunday when she doesn't work. The lady was super nice and a very talkative person so it made us late for Rowynn's first check-up.

Thankfully, the doctor we chose has a very friendly office and they were not upset that we were 15 minutes late. I felt bad though, Rowynn was ready to eat by the time we made it back to the room. Seeing that I have been attempting breastfeeding and I have not mastered it, we occupied the room for 30 minutes before we even saw the doctor! Then, I had to use it for another 20 minutes so I could do the other side.

We left the house at 12:30 pm and finally made it home at 4:30 pm! Rowynn's appointment was at 2 pm and we walked out of the office at 4 pm. I felt really bad about that especially since when we walked out of the room the whole waiting room was PACKED. Oops.

Amazingly, our whole family ended up matching that day. Not on purpose.

When Rowynn was born he weighed 7 lb 12 oz and when we left the hospital he was 7 lb 5 oz. At Rowynn's appointment he weighed 7 lb 9 oz! I was glad to see that the breastfeeding was successful.

Such a good boy... he didn't cry at all. Except to let me know he was hungry!

I love my boy SO much.

Bath Time

Okay so the first two pictures are not bath time just really sweet photos

Daddy with his little champ. I LOVE navy blue and red on this boy. He looks really good in those colors.

I figure someday I'll go back to getting ready. I guess my focus is on the boy and not myself right now. I just love holding him and feeding him and watching him sleep. Really, I don't thing there is anything I don't like about him!

First bath at home. Thankfully, Rusty recorded his whole first bath in the hospital so I was able to see you the nurse did it. I just copied everything she did and it was a breeze. Much easier than Abigayl's first bath.

Rowynn loved it. He was so calm and sweet during the whole thing. He REALLY liked having his hair washed.

I'm not sure why the bathroom shots turned out so red. If you have any photo advice, please leave it in the comment section for me.

The Rest of the Hospital Stay + Going Home

I love watching Rusty with him. He is such a GREAT dad. So hands on and patient.

Yes, I'm in my slippers. My feet were too swollen for the shoes I wore to the hospital. But, we are ready for the car!

Crazy story about this, a few seconds after taking this picture Rowynn's apnea monitor started going off (his pediatrician decided it would be a good idea for all of us if he wore the monitor for a while to keep track of his breathing and give us peace of mind). The monitor had given us alarms for a slow or fast heartbeat but never for apnea (which would mean he stopped breathing). I freaked out because he was under his blanket with just his head out. I ripped back the blanket and touched his foot. He was breathing just fine. Then, it went off again.

I had Rusty turn off the monitor for the ride home because I couldn't take the false alarms. When we got home, we figured out the nurse that redressed him after his morning weigh-in didn't put the monitor back on the right way.

I was a really scary moment for me and it brought back a lot of bad feelings. I'm glad that we have the machine but that false alarm was a very difficult one.

We got home safe and sound and since being home the monitor has not alarmed for apnea since. It does give us peace-of-mind when he or we are sleeping.

Rowynn Russell Stamper

On February 5, 2010 we headed for the hospital at 4:25 in the morning! After checking in, it was time to sit and wait for 7 am to roll around.

Once again, I am giving breastfeeding a shot. Thankfully, my friend, Katie, came to the hospital and helped me out all day. She is an angel because Rowynn latched on very quickly with her guidance. I'm hoping to be successful this time!

He had REALLY long nails when he arrived. Thankfully our sweet nurse cut them at the hospital so I didn't have to do it at home.
